Ondřej SOUKUP
Candidate of the 2027 Competition
Czech conductor Ondřej Soukup made his debut at the Prague Spring Festival with the Prague Philharmonia in 2026. At the Ionel Perlea International Competition (2024), he won third prize and special prize. He has conducted the Czech Chamber Philharmonic, Bohuslav Martinů Philharmonic, Copenhagen Phil, the Danish Sinfonietta, Moldovan National Philharmonic, and Symphony Orchestras of Ålborg, Århus, Odense, Sønderborg, and Helsingborg.
This season, Ondřej returns to the Czech National Theater, F.X. Šalda Theater, and works at the Danish National Opera, among others. He is proficient in symphonic, operatic, choral and contemporary music with a repertoire of 350+ works including Wagner’s Das Rheingold.
Recent highlights include working with Sir Thomas Allen, Sir Antonio Pappano, Maxim Vengerov, and conducting at short notice for Martyn Brabbins, and Joana Carneiro.
Ondřej was MD with King’s College London Symphony Orchestra, and studied at London’s Royal College of Music and Copenhagen’s Royal Academy.
