Fabian GRÜNKORN

Candidate of the 2027 Competition

Fabian Grünkorn was born in 2003 in Berlin and grew up in a family shaped by music. He began playing the piano at the age of six, and it soon became a central part of his life. Alongside an intensive piano education, he gained early concert experience as both a soloist and chamber musician, including multiple performances as a concert pianist at the Chamber Music Hall of the Berlin Philharmonie.

Since 2024, he has been studying orchestral conducting at the University of Music Franz Liszt Weimar under Professor Ekhart Wycik and Gregor Bühl. He received important artistic impulses through international masterclasses, including Vasily Petrenko’s Academy with Armenian National Philharmonic Orchestra, the Allegra Masterclass in Sofia with Nicolás Pasquet and
Ekhart Wycik, the Critical Orchestra of the “Forum Dirigieren,” and the Opera Masterclass in Zagreb, after which he conducted an act of Madama Butterfly in concert.

He also gained initial professional experience as a conductor with the Jena Philharmonic Orchestra, where he led several educational concerts for young audiences.
