Giorgos TSILIDIS

Candidate of the 2027 Competition

Greek conductor Giorgos Tsilidis is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Orchestral Conducting at the Robert Schumann Hochschule Düsseldorf, where he previously completed his Bachelor’s degree under the guidance of Prof Rüdiger Bohn. His broad musical education includes diplomas in Conducting, Composition, Violin, Piano, Harmony, Counterpoint and Fugue, as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.

Since 2023, Tsilidis has served as Chief Conductor of the Euregio Symphony Orchestra in Ahaus, Germany. Earlier in his career, he was Music Director of the Athens Youth Symphony Orchestra (2015–2019) and also led the Fantasy Symphony Orchestra, presenting projects devoted to symphonic film music. As a conductor, he has collaborated with a number of distinguished orchestras and ensembles, including the Düsseldorfer Symphoniker, Duisburger Philharmoniker, Bergische Symphoniker, Niederrheinische Sinfoniker, Staatsorchester Rheinische Philharmonie Koblenz, Musikfabrik Köln, Berliner Kammersymphonie and the Filarmonica de Stat “Dinu Lipatti” in Romania. Alongside his symphonic work, Tsilidis is actively engaged in opera, having prepared and conducted staged productions with singers and orchestra, including Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte. He was a finalist in the Athens State Orchestra Conducting Competition and has participated in masterclasses with Leonidas Kavakos, Nicolas Pasquet, Michalis Economou and Rüdiger Bohn.

Combining a solid academic background with wide-ranging practical experience, Giorgos Tsilidis represents a new generation of conductors whose artistic profile brings together conducting, composition and instrumental performance with a deep commitment to musical interpretation and collaboration.
