Jiaying DING
Candidate of the 2027 Competition
Jiaying Ding, a Juilliard graduate, the assistant conductor of Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra. As the student of conductor Long Yu in Shanghai Conservatory of music, she has also been guided by other mentors including Daniele Gatti, Paavo Järvi, Daniel Harding, Arthur Fagen, and Kenneth Kiesler.
In 2025, she was selected by Daniel Harding for the 1st YMCG Conducting Masterclass, and soon received invitation from Maestro Harding as the assistant conductor in the coming project with The Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia. In 2024 June, she was selected as one of the six young conductors attending Paavo Järvi Conducting Academy where she performed successfully with the Tonhalle Orchester Zurich. In 2023, she won the Carlos Miguel Prieto Conducting Fellowship in the United States, becoming the only Asian conductor among the global winners. At the same time, she was selected into the Conducting Artist Diploma Training Program (AD) co-founded by the Americas Orchestra Group Music Academy (OAcademy), The Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, and The Metropolitan Opera Orchestra.
As a conductor, she has conducted with the New York Philharmonic Orchestra (NY Phil) and Shanghai Orchestra Academy (SOA) cooperative chamber music concert, Tonhalle Orchester Zurich,New York Chamber Orchestra, Baltimore Chamber Orchestra, Charleston Symphony Orchestra, Hungarian National Symphony Orchestra, Pierre Monteux Summer Festival Orchestra, Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra, Guiyang Symphony Orchestra, Qingdao Symphony Orchestra, Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra, and Hohhot Philharmonic Orchestra, etc.
